I’m a Scavenger

Well, times are hard. But, that never stopped anyone before. I’m thinking of all these new and awesome things to do, but I’m realizing that I need to get them down on paper or something. Put my thoughts into actions. Goal: Make this week more of that, more doing what I like to do and not just thinking about what I want to do.  I probably think way too hard about things, but then I think we all do that. Is thinking too much helpful or not? Not always sure.

Sometimes we wonder an awful lot about what life would be like if it weren’t for this or it weren’t for that (or possibly that’s just me). Either way, there seems to be an more people thinking more of the same as the days and years go by. They’re thinking “What is this life? Is this it? It can’t be? Can it?” And that folks, is how depression starts. No really, though what we’re waiting for is something to spring us out of our misery. Remind us that we’re not weak and not paralyzed by fear, but that is only something that happens in dreams. Reality is usually far worse to deal with.

I just finished reading Player Piano by Kurt Vonnegut (good review of that here). It’s about a time when machines have basically taken over society and efforts to bring society back to what it was (men working labor, women working in homes) ultimately fail, all (or the rebels) must then realize that time moves on and essentially stops for no one. Society must keep moving forward. In today’s society, machines seems like an old-fashioned word possibly being replaced by the word ‘digital.’ In the same sense, though, there is a force which is changing society. Sometimes in both good and bad ways. With social media, we are always tuned into something. We always know what’s going on. Sometimes this can cause one to change their entire outlook or way of thinking, simply because everything that they know is online. Don’t let that stop you from doing whatever it is that your heart wants. Machines can’t really control you, unless you let them.

To find a good life, you must know what you are looking for. You must be able to look in the right places. To know that not everything will be the same way in which you envisioned it. Be on the lookout always for new and exciting opportunities, but don’t be put off by the wealth of information at your fingertips. The key is to know how to use today’s world. Because, really unless you have any plans for world domination things are not likely to change anytime soon. So strap up, find your best shoes and gear and get searching for the best you there is.WP_000194
